Business services consists of a diverse and wide ranging association of market participants along the value chain from the supply of raw materials, through manufacturing, distribution, wholesale and consumer related services. These are augmented by other business services not directly linked to the value chain, such as back office functions.This dynamic and growing sector is characterised inter alia by globalisation of trade, outsourcing, commoditisation of management services and specialisation of labour skills.

Rothschild's Business Services Group (BSG) was formed in 2006 to take an integrated approach to this sector with a global team of senior bankers. Rothschild BSG provides advice on all aspects of business services and has specialist sub-groups in Logistics, Facility Management, Business Process Outsourcing and Consulting, with even further specialisation within these.

Rothschild BSG has a market leading position. In 2008, it ranked No. 1 for completed transactions by number in Europe (27), with a transaction value of € 4,4 billion.
